This sampling of masks is from a fire bird ceremony involving 30 women all healing from abuse issues.These trauma masks were created as sacred prayer offerings to carry the trauma bound energy of the woman who created it to the great transformer of elements: FIRE!

After the first 30 masks were created, they were hung in a local gallery and shown to the community in honor of these beautiful, courageous women.This show included not only the masks but very powerful, personal writings as well. After the first masks were burnt, the second masks were hung: masks of healing and celebration! It was an honor to give these women the opportunity to be heard as well as seen.
